Clean Up Australia Day at Silver Beach
We had a fantastic turnout of volunteers for Clean Up Australia Day, and the weather couldn’t have been better. After travelling out to Kurnell and meeting our merry band of volunteers at Silver Beach, a great mix of bowlers, club members and staff rolled up their sleeves for a very worthy cause. A special mention to Phil Price’s family, who came along in force and added to the strong community spirit on the day.
Starting from either end of the beach, we worked our way along the shoreline, eventually meeting in the middle after a solid effort. Along the way we uncovered quite the collection — rope, nappies, an esky lid, a bike seat, clothing, a BBQ, diving goggles and plenty more. Not exactly buried treasure, but every piece removed was a win for the environment.
One of the most rewarding parts of the day was being stopped numerous times by members of the public who thanked our volunteers for their efforts. Those moments really reinforced why days like this matter — small actions, done together, make a visible difference.
We ended our efforts with wraps and cold drinks by the beach front as a thank you to everyone who gave up their time to help. A top day had by all and a proud effort from the Taren Point community doing our part for a cleaner coastline.
A big thank you to everyone who attended and represented the club so well.
